It's a beige, beige, beige, beige world in my neighborhood.

So last month when the folks across the street had the old siding torn off their home and new siding installed, we were all wondering what it would look like.  More specifically:  what color would it be?

From the looks of this block, siding only comes in beige these days.  You can complement that with shutters in tones of dark blue, dark green, dark red, black or plum.  You'd think we lived in one of those communities that tells you what to plant in your front yard and prohibits backyard clotheslines and swingsets.  Oh wait--clotheslines are allowed only if you can't see them from the street.  Guess I'll need to plant some fast-growing bushes along the fence.  Yikes.

I was kind of hoping that someone around here would have the courage to break the beige mold and pick something a little out of the ordinary.  Not like I wanted a sea-green, pink or purple house across the street, but something not beige would have been nice.

I guess I should have been a little more specific in what I was hoping for.  They didn't put up beige siding.  Instead, they chose white with black shutters.  For this neighborhood, that's really living on the edge.
