One of the kids in the neighborhood showed up at my house recently toting a toy vacuum.
I'd never seen one of those in action before, and I was amazed to discover that the thing actually works. I had just finished vacuuming with my regular vacuum, which is advertised to have such great power that it can hold a bowling ball in the air.
But my young neighbor turned on his little Dirt Devil and proceeded to vacuum up a whole bunch of stuff that my "advertised to be fabulous" vacuum had missed. Since it deposits all the dirt into a little cup rather than a vacuum bag, I could see exactly how much my vacuum had missed.
Apparently I could have saved us a whole bunch of money if I'd gone for the toy version. Bonus: it's so small that only a child can use it. I'd love to know what genius invented this toy!
My little neighbor spent more than half an hour re-vacuuming my house. I was so appreciative of his hard work that I invited him to stay for spaghetti. Unfortunately, he took his vacuum home when he left.
