Clothes shopping with my teenage daughter is always an adventure.  With our wildly divergent taste in clothes, there's a good chance a disagreement will occur.

That's why I'm thankful every day of the school year that she wears a uniform to school.  She can't blame me for the fashion choices of the school administration.  It's nice to let someone else be the bad guy for a change.

But no matter how the shopping trip is going, I'm practically her BFF when she heads into the fitting room with an armload of clothes to try on.  Because when the first round of things doesn't fit, my cell phone starts buzzing like crazy.

Cell phones make this process much easier; I don't have to sit on an uncomfortable stool near the fitting room waiting for her to shout at me.  Instead, I can just wait for the text:  "I need the dark jeans in a bigger size."  (Of course, I have to ask for the brand name and size she has now, but we have to start somewhere.)

This definitely beats the alternative:  where she picks up an item off a rack, declares she likes it, asks if she can have it, and then we proceed to pay for it without her trying it on.  Nine times out of ten, I have to return it later because it's the wrong size.  I much prefer our text-message tag-team shopping.
