We've been looking all over the house for the charging adapter for my husband's digital video camera.
It's been missing for easily a year and a half. At this point, I don't think it's coming back. 
The kids don't seem to mind too much until they want to prove to their dad that he does, indeed, snore, or they need to make a video for a school assignment. The one who's missing his video camera is their dad.
He didn't get to make his traditional "first day of school" video, nor his Christmas-morning video. And this month, he was unable to record the graduations of two of his children.
We've given up on finding that charger in the house. Instead, I've resigned myself to searching the internet for a replacement. (Naturally, I'll be checking for the best deals and coupons that Ultimate Coupons and Tjoos have to offer!)
And naturally, once the replacement arrives, one of the kids will find the original charger for the camera. Murphy's Law never fails.
