It's always interesting to read about the latest travel trends.  Recently, I saw a magazine ad for a cruise ship that featured an ice bar.  That was intriguing, so I checked into it a little more.

These tourist attractions, whether part of cruise ships or permanent establishments in resort locations, are generally made almost entirely of ice.  Naturally, they have to be kept at subfreezing temperatures so that the ice sculptures, drinking glasses, furniture, and even the bar itself don't melt.  Guests pay an admission fee to the bar, which helps defray the cost of upkeep.

The ice bar experience includes the use of colorful lighting that make the whole place look magical.  Drinks served include many varieties and flavors of vodka, which does not freeze, as well as frozen concoctions.  Don't pass up the protective gloves, or you'll get frostbite just holding the glass.
