It's that time of year again--the time when some people in this house start clamoring for me to turn on the air conditioner.

Yes, I have custody of the thermostat. I installed it, I programmed it, and I'm the one who switches the air conditioning (or heat) on and off.  Since I'm the one who's in the house more than anyone else, that's only fair.

And I have to admit that as I've reached the dreaded Age of Hot Flashes, there are times when I appreciate that blast of cold air blowing through the vents.

But not first thing in the morning.  You see, we have a very small bathroom.  The only place to put the towel rack was directly over the air vent.  That's terrific in the winter, when the heat's on.  There's nothing like stepping out of the shower and grabbing a warm towel.

And then there's the hot days of summer, when instead of a nice warm towel, you grab a chilly towel.  Chilly towels always feel like they're wet--even when they're dry.  Ick.

My dream addition to the bathroom?  A heated towel bar, and maybe one of those snazzy things they have in hotels that warm up the whole bathroom.

Sure beats blow-drying the towel before using it.
