I'm generally not a fan when they "new and improve" something.  Generally, I liked it just fine the way it was.  But I'm very happy with Windows 7.

I've never used Vista, so I was spared that nightmare.  I was quite happy using Windows XP.  I'd been using it since late 2006, and it worked fine for me. And when my husband (who's put up with my learning curve on new operating systems before--Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows XP...) told me that I'd better get myself a book on how to use Windows 7 because this was going to be a Big Adjustment, I was afraid--very afraid.

I bought the book, but have only opened it once, and that was only to browse.  I did find out why, when I touch a certain spot on the touchpad or drag my mouse to a certain corner, my windows all "disappear" and I can see the desktop.  Apparently that's a feature.  Now that I know this, I can use it to my advantage and not worry that I broke something.

I'm finding that Windows 7 is great for people like me who multitask, or who require several applications to accomplish a single task.  When I'm working, I use Firefox, Notepad, OneNote and Outlook.  I love that I can "pin" applications to the taskbar.  That doesn't mean they're open all the time, but it does mean that they're available and easy to find when I need them.  This is a great way for me to customize my work environment.

Now if I could only keep my real desktop as neat, clean and streamlined as my virtual one.
