I'm winding up my thirteenth year of outfitting my kids with school uniforms--with ten more to go. But this summer I'm lamenting the loss of the convenient "order online" option for my daughter's uniform.
She's starting high school, and we have to be sure that the uniform skort is sized correctly. Boys are so much easier to dress. All you need is a waist and inseam measurement, and you're all set--the pants are hemmed to order (generously, so that as the kids grow, I can lengthen the pants easily). But a skort is a whole different ball game.
Because my daughter's final track meet of the year was scheduled on the one evening that the uniform company would visit the school to measure new students for their uniforms, we had to miss the fitting. That means I'm going to have to do a thing I've been avoiding quite successfully for the 19 years we've lived here: I'll have to drive into Philadelphia.
I'm hoping that this will be a one-trip errand, and that in two years when she has to get a different color skort, the old one will still fit, so I'll get to go back to that convenient online ordering system again. Who wants to drive in the city, paying bridge tolls and parking fees when there are online deals to be had?
