It's that time of year again--my husband is talking about plans for our family vacation.

Whenever vacation time rolls around, I start referring to him as "Clark."  As in "Clark Griswold," the man behind the Griswold Family Vacation. If my husband had his way, the five of us would be crammed into a motorhome and we'd spend a month touring the Rocky Mountain states and South Dakota. Fun times.

There's only one person in this family besides my husband who's willing to spend a month sleeping in a tin can, and it isn't me.  Our two teenagers want no part of this either; only the eight-year-old will consider it, and that's because he's part of the reason the rest of us don't want to be confined with each other in a small space for 30 days.

So we've managed to talk "Clark" out of the monthlong camping adventure in favor of something a little more reasonable, and in which our beds don't turn into the stove.

Truth be told, my idea of a vacation is a luxury hotel room in which I don't have to make the bed, do the laundry, clean the bathroom, or cook the dinner.  A little Godiva chocolate on the pillow doesn't hurt either.  I want to stay where my feet sink into the thick plush carpet and there are seventeen pillows on the bed.  That's because my favorite vacation movie is "Last Holiday," which definitely does not feature any Griswolds.

If "Clark" wants to camp, he can go on a Boy Scout trip.
