It's mud season, and I recently joined a conversation about whether people keep their shoes on or off in their homes.
While I'm no fan of anyone who tracks mud through the whole house, I'm definitely a shoes-on kind of girl. But in this house, I'm in the minority.
Everyone else ditches their shoes just inside the front door. I doubt, though, that they do this because of some concern about the carpet. They just think it's more comfortable to be barefoot.
Of course, if they have to go back outside in a hurry, my two younger kids are not above running out in their socks. For that reason, their socks are always grubby and I'm threatening to buy them only black socks, so no one will see the dirt. I keep my shoes on--and my socks stay nice and clean.
Plus, I'm always ready to run out the door--right into the mud!
