April is a good month to stock your pantry with baking supplies--and there's a large selection of in-season fruits and vegetables as well.  So the supermarket bargains this month should be good ones.

Candy:  have you checked out the clearance section for Easter candy?  Don't miss it!  I stocked up on some Hershey kisses, which taste great no matter what color the wrappers are, as well as my old favorite Robin Eggs that I can only get this time of year.  If you find chocolate bunnies on clearance, don't pass them up.  When the kids aren't looking, smash them with a meat mallet, then use the chunks to make delicious chocolate-chip cookies.
