It's dark in my laundry room. That's what happens when your laundry room is in the basement, I guess.
But it was fine in there as long as the overhead light worked.
Yes, I said was. The light in there was one of those pull-chain deals that you find in the closets of older homes. And one day last week, I pulled the chain to turn off the light--and the chain came off in my hand.
Now I've got one of those Catch-22 situations going on. My dad was pretty confident that I'd be able to repair that light, but in order to work on it, I'll have to turn off the power to the fixture. That means I'll be taking out the entire basement, since it's all on the same circuit. That means I can't do laundry while I'm fixing the light. I'm always doing laundry--it's the job that never goes away. Another problem is that I'll need someone else to be here so they can hold the flashlight while I'm working on the fixture.
This is not going to be pretty, and for the last two weeks I've been making the best of it by doing laundry by the stairs light. It might be time to just bite the bullet and call a professional. They can hold their own flashlights.
