(Name the movie!) waffle

My kids have discovered that homemade waffles taste way better than the frozen ones I usually buy them in the supermarket.  Whether I use the recipe on the box of pancake mix or make the waffles from scratch, homemade waffles are always a hit.

Homemade waffles are also way cheaper than supermarket waffles, unless I have a really good coupon.  Those are few and far between these days--and so are the waffles.  I haven't been able to get our favorite brand of waffles for quite a while now.  I'm not sure if that's related to a food recall last fall, but it's been months since I've seen these in the stores.

So if the kids want waffles for breakfast, I have to make them myself.  We've discovered that sprinkling a little cinnamon-sugar on the batter before closing the waffle iron will give a great flavor to my kids' favorite breakfast.

If only I could figure out how to churn them out faster.  I can only make two waffles every four minutes, so if I want to feed the whole family, I need to get an hour's head start.  Or I could put in a whole morning and make enough waffles to keep them going for a week, freezing them for easy toasting later.

(Oh, by the way, the movie was Shrek.)
