Recently we had some wild weather here in the northeast. A storm brought 60-mile-per-hour winds and heavy rain to my area, 
and I was unlucky enough to be out driving in it.
I am not exaggerating when I say it was a terrifying experience. It didn't help that I was driving my husband's small car, and with the high winds, that car was being blown all over the road.
Driving through the outskirts of a small town an hour away from home, I saw tall trees on both sides of the road. There were plenty of sticks and branches littering the roadway. And then I turned the corner and saw the scene of an accident that had happened a few minutes before. The police were already there, and it looked like everyone was out of their cars and walking around--even the driver of the pickup truck that had been unfortunate enough to be directly beneath a large tree trunk as it plummeted to the ground.
For the next several miles, I didn't know whether to look at the road in front of me or the trees above me--but I couldn't relax until I got off that road and away from the trees. I mean, what does that poor guy say to his insurance adjuster: "Well, I was driving along Rt. 31, minding my own business, when all of a sudden a huge tree slammed down on top of the cab of my truck!"
Lucky for him, the tree-trunk-shaped dent in his truck should be proof enough for anyone.
