The latest trend in brick-and-mortar shopping?  Making customers pay for their shopping bags. green-bag

If you live in Washington, DC, you're already doing that.  And in San Francisco, plastic grocery bags are no longer an option at supermarkets.

Now, reusable "green bags" are available everywhere, and they're quite inexpensive.   Sometimes they're even free--I scored a free one today at the supermarket with a coupon I received last time I went shopping.  And I like the "green bags" since they're easier to carry--and hold more groceries--than the flimsy plastic bags.

These shopping bags, often made from recycled materials, are wonderful to use, but you have to have them with you when you go to the store.  If I forget my "green bags," I don't want to be penalized with a 5-cents-per-bag charge, or forced to purchase more reusable bags.

Fortunately, there's a solution--and it's one of those great solutions that doesn't involve leaving the house.  Don't want to pay for your grocery bags?  Just shop online, and take advantage of free shipping offers like these!
