I cannot believe this...there's snow in the forecast again for early next week. We haven't had a snow-free week since Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. I guess that means the furry prognosticator was right this year. 
Snow days around here usually shake out the same way. My husband and my teenagers shovel out the driveway and sidewalk. My seven-year-old enjoys some video games until his friends come around and then they all go outside to throw snowballs and make snowmen. Once the Big Kids are done shoveling, they join the other neighborhood teenagers in snow-fort-building and power snowball fighting. This involves using the "flying saucer sleds" as shields, and sometimes tossing bucketfuls of snow at the enemy.
Meanwhile, I'm in the house with the oven on. Something about all that snow makes me want to cook and bake. So I'll be making cookies, experimenting with new bread recipes (we've been eating a lot of sourdough bread lately) and roasting chickens. When everyone comes in from their snowy work and fun, there's plenty of hot chocolate for all.
I guess that forecast for next week means I'll be filling up that cookie jar again!
