With Valentine's Day coming up, an awful lot of people are shopping for engagement rings.  And the choices available are absolutely overwhelming. wedding-ring-set

I don't know how my husband managed to choose a ring for me when he bought my engagement ring.  I know that many brides shop for their rings along with their future husbands.  That wasn't something I wanted to do.  Even though he had proposed marriage before purchasing a ring, I still wanted the ring to be a surprise.

I remember giving him only one piece of guidance--and he is probably one of the few guys who has ever heard his fiancé say such a thing:  "I don't want a big ring."

I wasn't kidding, either.  I did not want a big ring.  Because I have small hands, I felt that a large ring, or even a ring with a large stone, would look silly on me.  Fortunately, he didn't decide that I was really angling for the opposite of what I'd requested.  He found a beautiful ring with a small pear-shaped diamond and a line of three small diamonds on each side of the stone.  It's lovely and simple, and it fits me.
