I have two children graduating this year: one from high school and one from eighth grade.
With graduation comes the obligatory Graduation Picture.
I didn't realize, when my daughter's portrait was taken at the same time as her little brother's, that this was not the yearbook and graduation picture. So I paid for the overpriced portrait package that the school offers--the package that has enough big pictures so we can have one for our mantel and Grandma can have one for her living-room wall.
Then she brought home a flyer about the graduation pictures. But the pictures didn't come out well--there was a huge shadow across her face in each one. So she signed up for retakes. Those were yesterday, and she's not so sure that the retakes went well either. We'll see. She always complains that the photographer's assistant "fixes" everyone's hair.
Meanwhile, her older brother sat for his graduation portrait, and none of the proofs came out good. Not only that, but the price of those photo packages equals half my monthly grocery budget!
I think we might go for a "do-it-yourself" graduation portrait this year for both kids. When they get their caps and gowns, we'll pose them for a portrait here and get it printed in the sizes we need.
