That's the only way to describe my TBR pile: all the books I own (or have borrowed from the library) but have not yet read.
I'm hooked on books, so it's a big pile. Actually, it's more than one pile. There are the three cookbooks I got for Christmas on the living-room table (so I can conveniently plan menus from the comfort of my couch). There are two or three stacks on the bedroom bookshelf, where I piled them before my surgery last month so I'd have a never-ending supply of books waiting for me.
I'm not kidding about the never-ending part. These are some big piles. Meanwhile, my husband has a measly ONE shelf for his books, and his "overflow" stack has been relegated to a table in the bedroom.
One solution to this problem is, of course, to buy more bookshelves. And I wouldn't be against that solution at all--if I had a place to PUT more bookshelves. That's just not possible in this house, at least not until some of the kids grow up and move out. Once that happens, I am getting my long-awaited library, even if it will wind up with a guest bed in it as well.
So, instead, I am decluttering my bookshelves. With so many TBR books, it's not highly likely that I'll be re-reading any of my other books anytime soon. So it's time to be a little ruthless with my collection. I'll keep my favorites and, of course, the classics--and let the others go.
And we all know what that means. I'll be able to make room for more books!
