That's what the computer programmers I used to work with would say when we software testers found a bug.
Then they'd fix it.
It looks like I'm stuck with this particular, um, feature on my all-in-one deskjet printer, though. Since it prints in color, it has four separate cartridges: black, red, yellow and blue. If ANY ONE of those cartridges happens to be empty, the printer will not work. It will not scan. It will not copy. It will not print. I'm guessing it will not fax, but that's a feature I've never tried to use.
It doesn't matter if I set the printer to "black ink only;" if the yellow ink cartridge is empty, I can't print in black and white.
Most of my color cartridges are running on empty right now, but only one of them actually is. And there is no way I'm taking out a cartridge that has any ink in it--these things are pricey, and I'm using every last drop. So I'm opening up my printer and replacing just the yellow one. The blue and red can wait. Yeah, I'm probably cutting my nose off to spite my face, but this is really frustrating.
Next time I buy a printer, I'll be making sure that it doesn't come with this particular feature.
