With all the snow we've had in southern New Jersey these past few weeks, my daughter has spent most of her time wearing either snow boots or slippers. 
Fortunately, she has many pairs of slippers to choose from. She is a big fan of bright, colorful socks and fun slippers, and she got plenty of both for Christmas. In her mind, you can never have too many slippers. (She'd love the Sock Monkey Slippers pictured here!)
One day last week when we finally had some decent weather, I took her shopping for some dress shoes for a special occasion. She was tired of wearing boots and wanted something easy to slip off her feet so she could try on shoes--so she wore her colorful peace-sign bootie slippers to the shoe store. The employees there thought those were the best slippers ever, and she and one of the salesgirls spent a good half hour trying on fancy shoes together.
Slippers as an ice-breaker--who knew?
