You may have noticed that certain of your favorite staples go on sale every few weeks.  grocery-bagsFor example, my local supermarket has good deals on boneless, skinless chicken breasts about every three weeks.  I take advantage of those sales and buy enough chicken to fill our freezer until the next sale.

But there are certain items that are really well-priced only at certain times of year.  Some of these are supermarket-specific:  a certain grocery chain is famous for its "Can-Can Sale" on all canned goods in January.

February's best deal is on oatmeal.  Makes sense; when the weather is as cold as it has been lately, you want a nice hot breakfast.   By combining manufacturer's coupons and a supermarket sale this week, I was able to get name-brand instant oatmeal for 99 cents a box.  It's usually $3.99 a box, so I was thrilled to find this deal.  Even without coupons, the savings there were too good to pass up.

Other February deals are holiday-related.  I've seen cherry pies on sale for the past few weeks, and starting Monday there will be some great deals on things like steak, seafood and chocolate.  All of these are usually marked down after Valentine's Day.
