What are you going to do with your savings in 2010? Have you set goals to save a certain amount of money?
And what do you plan to use that money to do?
When I do my grocery shopping, the amount I save using store sales and coupons prints right on the receipt. On my final grocery-store run in 2009, I saved $33.04. That's a nice chunk of change.
Grocery stores are not the only places that list your savings. Many online stores also show what you've saved, whether through coupons or free shipping, and those savings definitely add up.
I'm happy that I've learned to save money at the grocery store as well as when I shop online. Every little bit helps. But it's time to take the next step. I've resolved, this year, to "save what I've saved." So that $33.04 that I didn't spend at ShopRite can go right into a special bank account. Whether we use that toward a vacation, car repair, or to help our older son with his college tuition, that extra cash will come in handy.

One Response to “The Savings Add Up”
I found last year - late unfortunately - that I could save some money by not spending my five dollar bills. Then I bought savings bonds or deposited that money in the bank. Although it wasn't a lot, every little bit saved is good. Now if I could only remember to bring my coupons to the store !
