Exactly what does it mean when you turn on your digital camera and the display says "CARD ERROR" while the camera beeps madly and refuses to take any pictures?
I can't figure it out--but I know it can't be good.
This camera has been with me a long time, and it has served me well. I've had no complains about it except for the rechargeable battery, which is expensive to replace, so no spares are going to be happening.
In this case, the battery is charged. I'm quite sure I emptied ALL pictures off the memory card the last time I used it and downloaded the pictures to the computer. So the card's not full....
I wonder if cards can go bad. Maybe my next step will be to put the card into a card reader on my printer and see what shows up. But if all else fails, there are some good deals to be had on cameras--and I might be looking for one.

Have you checked to see if the card has a 'lock' on it to keep from erasing what's on it or putting anything new on it. sounds simple, but I found out the hard way that it can be locked. Very frustrating.
