I feel like I spend my days fighting entropy. As fast as I get one area cleaned up, another one gets messed up.
And I don't even have any toddlers in the house to blame for this!
One of the top New Year's Resolutions is always "get more organized." That's certainly true for me.
The most organized environment I've ever worked in was a summer camp. You'd think that a camp would be a chaos magnet, but the opposite was true. The Camp Director had everything under control through an amazing system of forms and clipboards. Every staff member had a clipboard, and there were forms for everything. That might sound like a pain--but it worked. 20 years ago, there were no computers in camp, so we had a lot of paperwork to keep everything straight.
With equipment inventories that were always up-to-date, everyone knew where everything was. If a staff member had time off, another staffer could easily fill in for her--all the procedures were right there on the clipboard.
I often wonder what happened to that uber-organized Camp Director. She'd have made a wonderful organizing coach. I'd love to see how her clipboard system would work with a family of 5.

Happy New Year!
Yes, organization is a hard nut to crack. I still haven't managed it. However, I have learned that trying to do everything by myself doesn't really work. Everybody in the household has to pitch in and - as Kristy would say, "Get with the program". Now I must be off to bake some creampuffs to take to a party later today. In between now and then, I'll attempt to organize just one small corner of my life - perhaps the junk drawer in the kitchen.
