The shopping is done. The presents are wrapped. The cookies are baked. It's time to settle down with a big bowl of popcorn and a stack of Christmas movies.
There are certainly plenty to choose from.
It wouldn't be Christmas without Charlie Brown, certainly. I love all the dancing scenes when the kids are supposed to be practicing their play. Charlie Brown has at least three Christmas specials, but none of the others hold a candle to A Charlie Brown Christmas.
After that, we'll give the Heat Miser and Cold Miser their chance to dance, in The Year Without a Santa Claus. Their theme song has been stuck in my head for weeks already.
If that doesn't get everyone into the Christmas spirit, it's time to pull out How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Only the animated one will do, since no one reads Seuss like Boris Karloff. This is another movie with a great song: "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." Oh, the insults!
Finally, after the second-grader has reluctantly gone to sleep, we can enjoy National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Who can't relate to Clark W. Griswold as he battles the odds to make the perfect family Christmas--even if it kills everyone?
