My daughter is shopping for a party dress.
A friend of hers is having a formal birthday party in a couple of weeks. 
I'm not sure why a 14th birthday warrants a formal party, and I certainly hope that my daughter doesn't think that her upcoming 14th birthday is going to merit one. But whatever--she needs a dress for this party.
She's been checking out all the clothing websites, looking for a dress that she likes and I'll permit her to wear. Sometimes I wish that she was still short enough to shop in the kids' department, but she's been taller than me for two years now, so my days of easy shopping are over.
But last night she injured her ankle at basketball practice--almost two years to the day after she was hurt in gym after another kid fell and landed on her foot. That injury got her two months in a boot and several sessions of physical therapy, and cost her an entire basketball season.
We'll be finding out soon what the prognosis is for her ankle this time. But she's already figured out that an orthopedic boot is not the proper footwear to pair with a bubble dress. Maybe she could wrap her crutches in tinsel instead.
