I love Thanksgiving--I really do. But I hate what happens in supermarkets around Thanksgiving time.
I call it "Amateur Week." 
All the people who don't know where anything is in the grocery store are in there all at once, buying unusual ingredients (like poultry seasoning) that are needed once a year. They drive their carts up the heels of shoppers who have a clue and who are trying to get by the carts abandoned mid-aisle as the Amateurs run three aisles back to get a forgotten item. We won't even talk about what the parking lot is like. The only bonus is that the store makes sure to have every single checkout lane open, and most Amateurs don't use coupons anyway, so that part of the trip generally goes fast.
On Thanksgiving morning, we passed quite a few supermarkets on the way to my sister's. It was pretty funny to observe that everyone coming out of the supermarkets with bags of groceries on Thanksgiving morning were men. And they were only carrying one, maybe two bags. You know their wives sent them in there to get what had been forgotten earlier in the week. At least in my neck of the woods it wasn't a windy, rainy day, like it was in the Cosby Show Thanksgiving episode.
