Whoever thought it was a good idea to make children's winter outerwear in white or pastel colors clearly never had children. Maybe they figured that because snow is white, a white jacket wouldn't get too dirty. 
Believe me, if there's a way for a kid to get dirty, the kid WILL get dirty.
A couple of years ago, my daughter picked out a cute, reversible bomber jacket. It fit her right and was on sale. But it was brown on one side and white on the other. Being all about style, she insisted on wearing the white side on the outside. It looked good for less than three days, and no amount of OxyClean could take care of the grubby sleeves and cuffs.
