I've mentioned before that time spent comparison-shopping is time well spent.  I almost never buy something, online or in a brick-and-mortar store, without doing a price check or looking for a better deal (and the best deals always include free shipping, in my humble opinion!)

You don't always have to surf the Web to do that comparison shopping either.  Sometimes deals jump out at you when you least expect them.

Remember the movie "Working Girl?"  Melanie Griffith played an ambitious young New Yorker who had her finger on the pulse of a business niche--because she read the local tabloids instead of the Wall Street Journal. wsj

Yesterday's Wall Street Journal, though, is what alerted me to a price war that may work to my advantage as I begin my holiday shopping.  Apparently there's a price war going on between two online retail giants, with preorders for some of the the top-selling books priced at $10 or less each (in once case, with free shipping--no minimum purchase requred!)

So keep your eyes and ears open!  You never know what information you'll find in unusual places.  And always check our main page for the newest deals, as well as coupons for just about anything you might want to buy.
