My children have never seen "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" the same way I did:  punctuated by commercials for Peter Paul candy bars.  They all got to watch those once-a-year specials on DVD--and they've become more than once-a-year occasions as a result.  television

Thanks to DVDs, the kids have also had the opportunity to watch all kinds of shows that were popular when I was their age, enjoying them over and over again without having to watch the commercials too.  Of course, they don't enjoy all the same TV shows that I had fun watching.  I have a box set of "F-Troop" episodes that I have to watch when I'm alone in the house because no one else will sit through even one.  (They won't watch "Alice" with me either, but that show isn't as entertaining now as I remember it being in the '70s.)

My older kids want to watch "Seinfeld" and the more-current "Family Guy" and "Scrubs."   My husband and younger son like watching Tim Allen bumble his way through household repairs on "Home Improvement."  And my daughter and I love the '80s series "Fame."  (I think she likes that one just so she can laugh at the wacky clothes everyone wears!)  I wish I could find DVDs of "Carol Burnett and Friends."  We'd all love watching those!

I don't need full-length movies to watch on DVD.  Give me a disk full of old TV shows and I'm much happier!
