There's a lot of work to be done in terms of running a household.

My neighbor was telling me recently that when her mom first had children, the local television station used to have special commercial breaks for homemakers. Remember the ominous-voiced public-service announcements in the 1970s: "It's 10 PM. Do you know where your children are?" The announcements for homemakers took place during the day. Women would be reminded that it was time to make the bed, do the laundry, or clean the bathroom.
It was kind of a high-tech version of my grandmother's old "wash on Monday, iron on Tuesday" routine--but a low-tech version of today's myriad email services and iPhone apps that serve the same purpose: helping people manage their time wisely.
