Ten years ago, we moved to this house from a much smaller one; barbsorgan1 in the process, we gained a basement, one bedroom, a family room and a dining room.  That's a lot of extra furniture to purchase, especially when you've just moved and have repairs to make.  So we were grateful to accept the offer of a dining-room table, chairs, dry sink and sideboard from my in-laws, who'd been charged with cleaning the house of a recently-deceased aunt.

After my grandmother passed away, we were offered her dining-room set.  The table and chairs were most welcome, as the other ones had gotten pretty wobbly.  Fortunately, all the pieces were "Early American" in style and the color matched perfectly, so everything in the room matched.

Then I was asked by a good friend if I'd be willing to give her old organ a good home.  I'd always wanted to learn to play the organ, so I eagerly said yes.  As there was nowhere else in the house for something this big, the organ ended up in a corner of the dining room.

None of the furniture in that room was originally ours, but we've made up for that by adding our own special touches:  family photos on the walls and antique cookbooks on the sideboard along with my teapot collection.  It doesn't matter where the furniture came from. All that matters is that our dining room is a great space for family meals and fun times together.
