I enjoy the quiet time each day when all my kids are in school.   The only thing making noise around here between the hours of 7:45 AM and 3 PM is the washing machine, and I hardly notice that.  I do wind up talking to myself on occasion, but there's no one around to think I'm crazy for doing that.

Of course, once everyone gets home, it immediately gets loud.  With the radio on in one room and the TV on in another, there are already too many sources of noise.  Then someone wants to talk to me about their day, and someone else is on the phone.  Add in a neighbor with a leaf blower, and I'm just about over the edge.

I like listening to the news while I make dinner, but I'm reluctant to add yet another source of noise to the house.  So I usually don't turn on the radio or TV in the kitchen.  Instead, I wish that my kitchen had a door, so I could shut out all the noise that surrounds me.
