Back to School; Back to Shopping!

I'm taking my daughter today to finish shopping for school supplies. Here in the Northeast, we start school after Labor Day, so she's still got a bit of summer vacation left. (That's good, because she still has summer reading to complete!)

Most of our school shopping is already done. I stocked up on #2 pencils, rulers, and notebooks in the right sizes--and I was thankful that my younger children's teachers provided the school supply list in June, so we'd have the summer to gather the needed supplies. Both boys got new backpacks last spring, and we replaced my daughter's backpack earlier this summer.

When I picked up mechanical pencils last week on a shopping trip, I couldn't resist a pack of these absolutely adorable ones. They're about five inches long and look like a real pencil, right down to the hexagonal shape so it won't roll off the table. Instead of being boring yellow, they've got cute designs on the sides, and erasers to match. Some of those won't be going off to school with my kids. They've gone right to the pencil mug on my desk.

My daughter likes to shop, so she was a little mad that I had gotten some supplies without her. So we're off to get the two most important items on her list--and the two that I would not choose without her being there: the binder and the lunchbox. Yes, we only need two more items, but I have the feeling that this is not going to be a quick shopping trip!
