Iced-tea stand, actually, but let's not quibble. 
Yesterday, my seven-year-old and his friends decided to sell iced tea from a stand at the bottom of the driveway. I don't remember any of my other kids ever doing this--and I don't remember doing this myself, either.
Kids with lemonade or iced-tea stands have it made. At least these kids did. They convinced my neighbor (mom of two of the enterprising elementary-schoolers) to provide the tea, ice cubes and lollipops. I was asked to contribute napkins and plastic cups. So the supplies were all taken care of. That means that the income from the stand was pure profit for the kids. Nice!
They got started early in the morning, dragging our old Little Tykes picnic table out to the bottom of the driveway and taping their homemade sign onto the front. Before 10 AM they were open for business. Every time a car went down the street, they'd run up and down yelling for customers. They flagged down a utility truck and even sold a cup of iced tea to the mailman. Unfortunately, we don't live on a well-traveled road, and they were taking a lunch break when the neighbors' landscapers buzzed through on their riding mowers.
Including me, they had nine customers. (Yes, they made me pay for my tea.) Not bad, I guess, for a morning's work--and we moms were glad they were busy playing outside on a nice day.
