My name is Barb, and I'm a candy-holic. I like most types of candy, except for those sour-patch things that my kids enjoy. Just thinking about them makes my cheeks pucker. I like my candy sweet.
My all-time favorite candy bar is the Milky Way. I come by this addiction honestly; my grandmother used to keep a stash of fun-size Milky Ways in the vegetable drawer of her refrigerator, of all places. We all knew they were in there. There's a lot less fun in the fun-size bars these days, though. 
Last week I was out shopping and even though candy was not on my shopping list, I couldn't resist strolling down the candy aisle and checking out the Valentine's Day offerings. I am very predictable when it comes to candy. Around Valentine's Day, I crave chocolate-covered cherries. The pink, red and white M&Ms are good too, and let's not forget those awesome "conversation hearts." But I was amazed to find all kinds of out-of-season candies that were being marketed for Valentine's Day!
"Peeps" aren't just for Easter anymore, apparently. There were cherry-flavored "Peep" hearts, and I remember seeing some Halloween pumpkin "Peeps" last fall.
And taking a cue from the traditional Halloween favorite, I found some "Cupid Candy Corn." This red, white and pink candy corn is cherry-flavored, like the Valentine "Peeps." I can eat candy corn until I get a stomachache, so I couldn't resist buying a nice big tub of "Cupid Candy Corn."
I'm here to tell you to save your money. Cherry-flavored red, white and pink candy corn doesn't hold a candle to the real thing.
I'd like to start a petition to restrict holiday candy to the appropriate holiday. Candymakers, stop messing with my favorites! If I can get "Peeps" all year long, I won't want them at Easter. It's the seasonal aspect of the candy that makes it special.
