Earlier this month, my husband and I celebrated our eighteenth wedding anniversary.
We marked the occasion, as we always do, by sending a bouquet of flowers to someone very special--the woman who introduced us. 
We know that if it were not for her influence, we'd never have met.
Mrs. J. had known my father since I was in about fourth grade; they worked in the same department. She first met me when my family attended a company picnic, which were always good times. Later, my dad would bring me to work during college vacations and I'd help out with office tasks; often Mrs. J. was in charge of me there.
She had met my husband when he was an eighth-grader; that's when his family moved in next door to her. During the next several years, she and her husband grew very close to my husband's family, sharing birthdays and other celebrations, picnics in the backyard and plenty of good times. They also made sure that my husband and his brother didn't get into too much mischief!
And when my husband and I were both in our twenties, Mrs. J. told my dad that she thought we should meet.
One year later, we were married, and my bridesmaids and I got ready in Mrs. J.'s home. After the ceremony, my new husband and I were left behind at the church due to a little snafu with the transportation, so she and her husband kindly gave us a ride to the reception.
Mrs. J. and her husband have moved to Florida now, but each January on our anniversary we like to remember her in a special way.
