If your house is anything like mine, by this hour the children under the age of ten have woken up the adults and informed them that, indeed, Santa has come and everyone had better see what's under that Christmas tree right now. The empty cookie plate and pile of gifts are evidence that the big guy in red has been here! 
Teenagers who have been taking advantage of school vacation to enjoy a later bedtime, on the other hand, don't want to wake up at any hour that's in single digits. Grumpier than the Grinch before his heart grew three sizes, they'd rather sleep than open presents. The adults are resigned to being awake, and aware that in the Christmas-morning photos they'll have bleary eyes and bad hair and be hiding behind large coffee cups.
Of course, that all changes once the wrapping paper starts flying. Who doesn't like to open up a present--something that a loved one has carefully chosen with you in mind?
Around here, we don't save wrapping paper. It doesn't have a chance. There is no careful, tedious slitting of Scotch tape so that the paper can be saved and reused on another gift or in a scrapbook. The only recycling of paper we do around here is when the kids wad it up into balls and play basketball with the recycle bin, or dodgeball with each other, as the adults warn them to take that into another room so the Christmas tree isn't endangered.
