I've gotten too used to all those Auto-Save features on Microsoft Word and even in Google Docs (which is an awesome free online resource if you've never used it). Y'see, I started writing a great post this morning (okay, maybe "great" is a bit subjective), and I was probably about 75% through it when I realized I hadn't saved it yet. That's actually pretty unlike me, since I'm usually pretty anal about saving all my work 6,000 times while writing it. You never know when your computers just gonna crash on you, right?
So anyways, this blog is published through a program called WordPress. I rarely have any troubles at all with it. So I hit the "Save and Continue Editing" button so I can have a safe saved copy of my post and then get back to writing. Except. Well. When I hit the button, it went to page I'd never seen before that asked me if I really wanted to edit this page. Freaking out, I hit the BACK button on my browser praying that all my brilliant text would still be there. But what I saw staring back at me, no, make that mocking me was one big ol' honkin' page of nothing. Just white space. I tried going forward to reclaim it, but no good. And no saved draft was anywhere to be found. Frustrated, I tried again. This time I hit the SAVE button after just 1 paragraph. And the same thing happened. Again.
Cue steam coming out of my ears, followed by a string of profanity thrown at my computer monitor.
I knew I needed to upgrade WordPress to the latest release, but that shouldn't have caused the problem. But I went and upgraded manually, which is always scary, and thankfully everything went nice and smooth and you guys never even noticed. Problem solved, right?
Wrong. I just hit SAVE on this very post itself (after copying all the text first just in case), and that same error repeated itself. So I deifnitely have something screwy going on here and need to do some more digging to figure out what's going on. So my apologies for no new fun and exciting posts. Hopefully I can iron out these kinks a.s.a.p. and return to your regularly scheduled blog.

Oh man, I totally feel your pain. I have WordPress, too, and it's always eating my posts. I'm to the point now where I only write a blog post in Gmail, links and all, and then copy and paste it over.
I've just been burned too many times with stupid WordPress!
You're not alone! I am having the same problem with my WP blog. Never seen that page before either. As a matter of habit (because this has happened to me at work), I usually "select all" the content and copy it. But even so, I've had better luck with simply hitting the save button instead of the save and continue edit one. Shouldn't have to do that, of course.
I need to upgrade as well. I thought a newer version was expected this past weekend. Did you happen to replace just one file instead of doing an entire upgrade? I ask because the latest upgrade had to do with one file that I read on a few blogs. So, theoretically, if you just replaced that file (xmrlc.php?), you could get away with doing it quickly. Don't know if that's what's causing this, but this error only happened after I replaced that file.
Hmmm.
@Kacie - Hi there! Thanks so much for your comment. While it didn't solve my problem, it does make me feel better knowing I'm not alone and/or completely incompotent on a tech level. Heh. Thing is, I have NEVER had this type of problem before at all. WP has actually been fantastic for the most part up until yesteday.
@Mark - Howdy, Mark! Glad you made it over here and with that info coming from a blogging pro like yourself, I definitely feel a bit better. Heh. I ended up doing the entire upgrade manually (rather then the auto-upgrade via a plugin, 'cause that wasn't working) and the upgrade seemed to go fine. But I had this problem before AND after the upgrade so it can't be related to the most recent upgrade. The newest one is 2.5 which is still in beta and won't be released for a while I gather. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.
WordPress is one of the blogging software that works really good. I will use it myself.
After Joomla i use only WordPress. I like it.
