Next week kicks off another month, another April and along with it, another April Fool's Day. It got me thinking about how many songs there've been about fools. "Fool on the Hill" by the Beatles. "Fool for Your Loving No More" by Whitesnake. "Won't Get Fooled Again" by the Who. "Dancin' Fool" by The Guess Who. "Fool For You Anyway" by Foreigner. And I"m sure there's about six gajillion country songs about fools, right?
So for this week's flashback, I've gone back to those glory days of the '80s where videos mattered and beyond seeing your favorite band all glammed up with giant wild poofy hair, ridiculous getups and enough cheese to surpass the moon's supply, there were actually stories told through song and video. LIke maybe a classic take on a pretty poor girl who wants to attend a concert but these two evil twin sisters in some ludicrously high-fashion outfits try to stop her. Yeah, this week's flashback totally sums up everything I love about the '80s. No foolin'.

Have you heard about this new site called more4schools.com? It's to be officially launched in August. It will have printable coupons from all over the country. You pick whatever school you want to support (you can add one, if yours isn't listed) and $0.25 of every coupon redeemed goes to that school. You can check out the website now and sign up for their news letter. Get the word out, schools need this. The money goes straight to the school and the kids and teachers don't have to sell anything. As a former teacher, I can appreciate that. Public or private schools may participate.
Thanks for putting that song in my head, now all I hear is Tom Keifer's voice repeating "I'm no fool, nobody's fool, nobody's foool" over and over again!
You're so right that videos have started to suck ~huh huh huh, says Butthead.~
I've never understood that. It's like they're just commercials for the band rather than storytelling opportunities.
@sheila - No I haven't heard of it, but it sounds pretty interesting. I'll be happy to get the word out on this one. Anything to help out schools and teachers! Thanks for the info.
@CFO - Hah. You're quite welcome. Hopefully you have a better voice then me though.
@Taylor - Hey, teach! Now you've got me missing good "bad" cartoons like Beavis and Butt-head. Sigh. But you're totally right that they're glorified commercials these days. If you can actually get to SEE a video that is...
