Woo! The 2007 NFL season is officially underway! Yea yea, it kicked off last Thursday Night, but it doesn't really count until the Pittsburgh Steelers play, which happened yesterday. And they trounced the Cleveland Browns 34-7, giving me at least some hope that they may actually play this year. In honor of the new season and the Steel Victory, I figure I'll whip up a football-related tale and the ever-popular football coupon.
Let's see... I've already mentioned how I was a band geek back in high school, so going back to those lovely glory days, let me tell you about the time our band played a Jets game. Besides playing half-time at our school's football games on weekends, our marching band was pretty darn good if I say so myself and we did travel a bit and played in some interesting places (like on a Main Street parade at Disneyland). One year we actually got to play half-time at the Meadowlands in N.J. during a NY Jets/Cincinatti Bengals football game. Yes, a real game, not just exhibition. I'm a Steelers fan as I mentioned, but growing up in NY, I still like the Jets and Giants and can root for both teams and laugh at how bad both are. At the time, the Jets were pretty stinky (yeah, way worse then today) and the Bengals were horrific. So it wasn't a packed house but still, I will never forget the feeling of walking out to the 50 yard line of a real football field with thousands of people watching from all sides and playing the saxophone with the rest of my high school band. It was really a surreal experience. I don't remember too much else, other than the feeling of playing in such an open area with the wind chilling our bones. I'm fairly certain the Jets managed to lose though. Overall, that's easily one of the more positive memories I have of playing in our HS marching band.

Good post. Excludes Pat Tillman jerseys...What??? I guess boiler plate should say: Exclusions: Heroes That Died For Our Country, Samsung products, blah blah blah....come on NFL Shop give me a break.
Well, in case you aren't kidding, I'll point out that on the NFL Shop site for the Pat Tillman jerseys, it does say, "All proceeds benefit The Pat Tillman Foundation." So if you used a coupon, you'd actually be HURTING the foundation by stealing money right from their poor hands. So just for that, I think you should go buy 3 Pat Tillman jerseys AND a Ben Roethlisberger Steelers one while you're at it.
