WhitesnakeBack in High School, I must've been a senior I imagine, I snagged tickets to go see Whitesnake with my buddy Ethan. They were playing at the Orange County Fairgrounds up in Middletown, NY, so it was a drive but definitely doable for two guys who probably just got their license fairly recently. I have no clue how we convinced our parents to let us go, but they did.

I was a big fan of Hair Bands in the '80s (Whitesnake, Twisted Sister, Ratt, Poison, you name it). You know, the guys who wore more makeup and hairspray then the girls did. Loud music. Cheesy lyrics. Poppy tunes. And of course, the Power Ballad. Wooo! Well, Whitesnake was touring for it's "Slip of the Tongue" album and I think Faster Pussycat was opening. So we got to the fairgrounds a bit early. Probably an hour or two. We scoped out the area which wasn't too crowded. And since we were hungry we started walking around nearby stripmalls looking for a pizza joint. And that's when in the middle of a larger parking lot we met... him. One of the many crazy people I'd no doubt meet over my lifetime. He came shuffling up to us looking really excited and dressed as if he hadn't showered in days. Which he probably hadn't. Crazy brownish/white beard going on. Picture Uncle Jesse from the Dukes of Hazzard, only about 10 years younger and 50 pounds lighter.

So this odd looking stranger comes up to two teenagers in a fairly abandoned parking lot. I'm ready to run full speed for the hills, but Ethan (ever the naive one), says, let's see what this guy wants. And the guy stops by us and says, "Do you guys want to see something CRAZY?" Thinking I'd walked into the Twilight Zone, I barely mutter, "uh, not really." And Ethan, of course, goes, "Maybe. What is it?" And the guy tells us, "I just saw some guy who'll pay you twenty dollars to tie him up. Want me to show you?" Uh, thankfully our folks did teach us right, cause we blurted out "No!" and literally ran for the hills at that one. Other than that odd incident, it was a great head-bangin' concert.

As for today's coupon... well with bands like WhiteSNAKE and Faster PussyCAT, you'd probably expect a pet coupon and, well, you're wrong! I'm throwing you all for a loop.
