I went to the movies last night with my buddy Pat. There really wasn't too much we wanted to see ("Superbad" doesn't come out till this weekend or we would've seen that), so we ended up somehow catching Stardust. It's a unique fairy-tale type of movie in the vein of Princess Bride (which is a fantastic movie). It's also based on a comic book I never read, but knew about and admire the author/artist. So I went in with no real expectations nor knowledge of the storyline. And except for a really annoying, eye-rolling for 20 minutes or so scene in the middle, I really enjoyed it. It definitely is like The Princess Bride a bit, though not nearly as funny nor charming. But the story itself will hold your interest and if I had my wife with my instead, chances are she would've been leaning on my shoulder bawling and laughing the entire time. I guess I'll have to take her and go see it again.
But the worst part of our movie adventure, due to our local AMC Lowes Theater is that... they don't seel Sno-Caps!!! What kind of no-frills service is that?!? Twizzlers? Check. Rasinettes? Yep. Stale popcorn with motor oil butter? You betcha! Heck, they even have Junior Mints and Whoppers. But no Sno-Caps!!! It's definitely an outrage and next time I'm stopping at the candy kiosk OUTSIDE the movie theater and sneaking those suckers in!
Anyways, in the spirit of the cinema, below is a nice little coupon for Fandango! Not a big money saver, but it basically helps cut down or remove the online service charge Fandango charges you to buy your tix in advance. And ever since using it a few years ago, I am hooked on Fandango. No need to wait online at all at the theater. Sooooo much better...
$1 off your order at Fandango.com
Use the above link to activate the coupon.
Valid for all movies, not just the ones listed.
Valid through: August 31, 2007

I just read a blog yesterday that was raving about Stardust being one of the best movies in recent months. That person, like yourself, went in with no expectations and came out with a smile. I will definitely have to check it out!
I went to see a production of "A Few Good Men" at a local theatre last night. I absolutely love plays. I have season subscriptions to two different theatres, so I get to see lots of them! It's a real shame that I always have to go by myself!
I hope you're having a great weekend, friend!
Yeah, plays are fun aren't they? For my wife's birthday her folks got us tickets to see Wicked on Broadway, so we're pretty excited. Well, my wife is ecstatic, I'm just happy to get out. Heh.
None of your friends are into theater, Tish? And are there any theater social groups in your area? Like a social mixer type of thing where you attend movies or the theater? If so, that's a great way to meet new people who share your interest (or are just trying to scam on your interest to meet new folks to date...)
My friends aren't into theatre, but I have a blast going to plays. Ya know, the theatre social group is a great idea. I'll have to check around to see if there's something like that. It would be nice to meet guys who share my odd interests.
My most favoritest movie of all time would have to be Princess Bride. What a wonderfully happy thought you gave me on a hot, miserable Monday!
Thanks!
Tish: Going to the theater is far from an odd interest. Or maybe you should join a local rollerderby club. That'd surely get some guys' attention, right?
Diva: Glad I could brighten your miserable Monday! It's actually cold here in NY today (like 70 if that, and way windy and cloudy). But your positive post has brightened my day! So how's that for karma spreading...
