I can't remember the last time I wore a watch. It was definitely after college but was probably about the time I started carrying around a cell phone full time. It used to be when you'd ask someone for the time, they'd instantly flip their arm up to take a peek at their watch. Nowadays, if I asked that question to 10 people under the age of 50, I'd hazard a guess that 9 out of 10 would reach for their cell phones instead to tell me the time. I wonder how badly the watch industry's been hurt by cell phones... or by telecommuters who have clocks on their computers and have no need for portable time pieces.
I used to love my watches. I'd get all sorts of different character ones; my favorite being a "classy" looking Batman watch. Heh. It was a gold watch with a black face and the second hand had a tiny gold batman logo on it. Classy and geeky at the same time. But the battery died and then the second hand fell off and then, well, I stopped wearing watches. I've always wanted a pocket watch, though. But again, I'd rarely have a use for it. Anyways, whether you ahve one or not, you can save some bucks on watches and all sorts of jewelry for that matter, at Overstock, which actually offers pretty low prices to begin with.
