Back in college (stop laughing, it wasn't that long ago), I was really into the environment. Actually, it started back in high school with an organization called SOP (Save Our Planet) that worked to spread the word on recycling and doing your part for the environment. Like most people, though, I graduated, moved on to get married, start a family, have a career, etc. And the passion I had for caring for the planet didn't completely go away; it just got re-prioritized I guess.

Sure we still recycle everything in the house. We try not to buy styrofoam. We definitely re-use what we can (Kids seem to go through 100 sheets of white paper in about 8 seconds when drawing with crayons, so you quickly learn to just flip that sucker over) . I can't wait to buy a hybrid when it's time to replace my ol' Honda Civic. Can we do more though? Sure, we all can. For now, we're doing our best to teach our kids the importance of not wasting things and re-using/recycling when you can.

Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into some "tree hugging" soapbox. Nope, I just wanted to give you my thoughts and "place" in the world when it comes to being an environmentalist, because I'm excited about a new shopping website that just launched.

GreenerOffers.com is "a website for consumers who want to “do their bit”, with special offers on green products and services or those which make a green offer (e.g. carbon offset) when you buy." So sure, it spotlights many great green products that consumers can buy, but the company puts its money where its mouth is: Greener Offers donates half of all commissions earned on its site to Climate Care to spend on carbon dioxide reduction programs.

The only puzzling thing to me is that the site is a US domain name, but the company and most of its offers are based in the UK. So hopefully they'll be pushing more US partners in the future.
