I'm a New Yorker. Lived here my entire life. I've traveled a bit around this country (mostly on both coasts) and the proverbial post-college 5-week backpacking trek through Europe. But through it all, I've got to say that San Francisco is my all-time favorite city. (Well, not just the city, but the surrounding counties like Marin and the Wine Country up north). I don't know exactly what it is, but everything just seems a lot calmer, there's sooo many varied things to do, everybody's a lot more open to different thoughts and, of course, there's the sourdough bread. And don't get me started on trying it anywhere but in the San Fran area. It just loses its taste.
So one year while vacationing in San Francisco, I somehow left my favoritest pair of Pittsburgh Steelers boxer shorts at the hotel we were staying at on Fisherman's Wharf. I don't recall the name of it. When we packed up I looked everywhere, and then just assumed we had packed it already. But upon returning home, they were nowhere to be found. So sad. To this day, that's probably the only sour memory I have (other than traffic) of San Francisco.
